Le Méridien Hotel Frankfurt awaits its international clientele behind its historic façade. In 2017, the owner company Art-Invest Real Estate commissioned Büro Brumann as general contractor, including all technical trades, with the planning and execution of the extensive remodelling of the public areas. Within 6 months, the lobby and reception, the hotel restaurant ‘The Legacy Bar & Grill’ and the banqueting and conference rooms were renovated in two consecutive construction phases during ongoing operations.

Le Méridien can look back on over 100 years of history when it opened in 1905 as the Parkhotel Kaiserhof. The five-star hotel with its historic Art Nouveau façade was extended in 1970 and comprises 297 rooms and suites, a restaurant, conference and banqueting rooms and a wellness area. It is located in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt's main railway station and the banks of the River Main.

The interior design concept was developed by the local office Designer's House in Frankfurt. The historic part of the building was reactivated and the lounge areas in the catering area were newly linked. The elegant yet relaxed design line conveys a casual, cosy atmosphere for meetings, dining and informal gatherings at the cocktail bar. The hotel restaurant ‘The Legacy’ is designed as a new hot spot in Frankfurt's sophisticated gastronomy scene and impresses with its informal atmosphere and creative Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant integrates the long, bright conservatory front of the building. A continuous dark floor with expressive wood grain forms the elegant backdrop for furniture in dark wood and contrasting off-white. The indirect lighting from downlights and concealed light strips creates a warm atmosphere in which expressive lighting objects and ceiling lights accentuate the functional areas. In the conservatory, comfortable, midnight-blue lounge chairs in an elegantly minimalist New Scandinavian design invite you to take a break with an espresso or highball, while the hotel bar with its textured metallic panels, glass and reflective mirror details is a sparkling attraction. In the restaurant, half-height dividing elements divide the room into intimate areas that promise privacy and discretion. Comfortable dining chairs in different coloured upholstery fabrics and occasional carpets complement the urban-elegant character with a relaxed cosiness that can also be found in the modern hub and lounge area.

As the general contractor, Brumann not only had to ensure continued operation during the two construction phases, but also take the listed building fabric and statics into account when dismantling and demolishing some of the reinforced concrete walls.
