Completed after two years of construction work: ***** Grandhotel Steigenberger Petersberg
Historical site in a new splendour: ***** Grandhotel Steigenberger Petersberg
In September 2019, we were able to witness the festive reopening: an event that lived up to the legend of this history-steeped venue - and gave goosebumps to everyone who, over the past 24 months, helped to turn the somewhat dusty complex into an elegant, contemporary 5-star grand hotel.
As a general contractor, we were commissioned to implement the interior plans created by Bollinger + Fehling Architects, Berlin, and Project Orange, London - which included a lot of surprises; something pretty much to be expected with such a complex and demanding full renovation of the existing building. Our project and construction managers, who now know the extensive complex overlooking the Rhine like the backs of their hands, were rewarded by excellent cooperation with the hotel management and skilled tradesmen from 12 participating trades, who really did an excellent job.
The complete renovation and refurbishment of the former guest house from the Bonn Republic era was implemented in two construction phases: in the first phase, 50 rooms, reception, lobby/hall, two restaurants and the bistro were renovated. The plan for the second phase encompassed the rest of the rooms, the suites and the large banqueting areas.
Now whenever someone asks, “Why is it so beautiful on the Rhine?” a night at the Petersberg should be recommended, because waking up in the morning in one of the luxurious rooms in a comfortable box spring bed and looking out through the large double casement windows onto the wide river will provide the perfect answer to this question.
It was an honour!
