In plan: Hotel InterContinental, Berlin
Hotel legend and landmark: Hotel InterContinental Berlin
Planned and built as a Hilton Hotel in 1958, with its characteristic chequerboard facade, the hotel was considered the most modern hotel in Europe when it opened. Its size continues to set standards: with 558 rooms and 34 event rooms, it is one of the largest hotels in Germany and is always among the top ten nationwide in terms of revenue. Its Marlene Bar is a Berlin nightlife institution, its star-rated restaurant a must for international gourmets, and its guest list is a who's who of world politics.
But even legends age, which is why the rooms and suites, the reception area and the lobby of the listed building will soon undergo a radical modernisation - planned by prestigious London interior design firm Goddard Littlefair.
Planning of the overall implementation has been awarded to Brumann. Our teams are currently busy with the final plans, with four sample rooms being created in parallel. After approval, modernisation of the first section can begin because, as always, this renovation will take place in the existing building while the hotel is still open. As experienced general contractors, we therefore take great care during implementation of the construction phase, which is planned to take three years, not to disturb either guests or staff in their daily routine.
Berlin: we will meet again soon!
