Just a stone's throw from the Humboldt Forum, Alexanderplatz, and the Hackesche Höfe lies the historic Alexander Plaza Hotel. Behind its historic façade, Brumann—acting as both designer and general contractor for the public spaces and wellness area—has implemented a comprehensive renovation program. Since the historic building from the Wilhelminian era is a listed structure, the challenge was to create a harmonious blend of the historic fabric and a contemporary interior concept while adhering to strict preservation guidelines.
As part of a phased, comprehensive renovation, the spa area in the hotel’s basement was first extensively remodeled and completely refitted. The next step was the complete renovation of the ground floor. Now, the entrance area of the boutique hotel presents itself in the style of an open lobby: with a new, stylish reception desk, a large lounge area, a cozy business corner, and the breakfast room in the light-filled atrium.
Tasteful, comfortable seating areas invite guests to linger and underscore the guiding principle of the spatial concept as a community space. Another new addition is the deli, which offers beverages, snacks, and light meals. An abundance of lush green plants complements the harmonious color scheme, the well-thought-out layout, and the high-quality furnishings: thus, the ground floor of this historic hotel becomes an inviting, green oasis and a stylish retreat amid the bustling hustle and bustle of Berlin-Mitte.
