The historic Nestor Hotel in Neckarsulm has been repositioned under the Accor Group’s ibis Styles brand. Property owner Art-Invest Real Estate and operator The Chocolate on the Pillow Group entrusted Brumann with developing the interior design as well as overseeing the comprehensive modernization and rebranding as general contractor while the hotel remained open for business.
The design concept draws on Neckarsulm’s two defining themes: motorsports and viticulture. In the rooms, guests are greeted by a dynamic motorsports ambiance—featuring large-scale wall graphics of legendary NSU vehicles, carbon-look headboards, and colorful accents reminiscent of the race cars of the past. The design is complemented by a custom-designed carpet whose pattern is modeled after tire tracks, adding a subtle sense of movement to the room’s atmosphere. Even the bathrooms are part of this concept: the shower areas are designed to resemble car wash bays, charmingly continuing the theme. In the public areas and the meeting room, a calm, welcoming atmosphere dominates alongside motorsport accents. Warm materials, decorative wine barrels, and atmospheric imagery in sepia tones reflect the winegrowing culture that is just as typical of Neckarsulm. This creates an exciting interplay of dynamism and serenity, offering guests both an experience and comfort.
In addition to the design overhaul, the project also included an expansion of the number of rooms. A total of 97 modernized units are now available—including accessible rooms, family rooms, and small suites. For active guests, a fitness area with high-quality Technogym equipment offers optimal training opportunities. The offering is complemented by contemporary mobility solutions such as EV charging stations and bicycle parking spaces, which support guests’ sustainable travel habits.
The particular challenge lay in carrying out the work while the hotel remained open—a task that Brumann mastered with precision and efficiency. In addition to the design, extensive technical upgrades were also a key focus, including adjustments to the building services, modernizations in the restroom areas, and the implementation of current fire safety regulations. The result is a hotel that not only impresses with its distinctive interior but also stands out for its state-of-the-art standards in comfort, safety, and sustainability.
